...Because Heath Ledger, who plays The Joker in the movie, is officially dead. No official cause of death yet, but, he is dead.
I hope The Joker dies in the movie, because that will make for some awkward casting for the sequel if he doesn't.

I'm not sure, since they're still talking about it five days later. Marlon Brando didn't this much hype when he died. Heath's been in, what, like, five movies?
And Daniel Day Lewis posthumously blowing him on the SAG Awards was pretty embarrassing.
Ask around...how many people have actually seen a Heath Ledger movie.
Answer...A LOT fewer than those who haven't.
I've seen The Patriot and The Brothers Grimm. But then, I watch a lot of movies. Hell, I've seen more of Soledad Miranda's movies, and she's been dead for 30 years (and it don't get much more obscure than that).
